☀it all started with...

... a birthday day.

{surrounded by loved ones}

I had the most wonderful day; some phone calls, lots of love on facebook, some free babysitting {thanks Janelle} and a little get together in the evening.

I really had no idea that a grand adventure awaited me.  Many people had been scheming...

Thirty-one in the City

I NY
So the fairy-tale began with...
 a free airplane ride {thanks to Delta air miles}
a very good read,
a great guide, or two {check out Halley's super cute hair}
The story continued with great food {Grimaldi's Pizza}

Mmmmm
{the best ever stuffed french toast}
 And we can't forget the great sites
{I was referring to the NY skyline, wink wink}
Brooklyn Bridge
central park
Mary Poppins on Broadway
{checking into the theater}
FAO Schwarz toy store
{the lights on the ceiling were cool}
canal street {bartering was fun, we didn't buy fish}
{quaint Hoboken, NJ and lots of subway, train, bus rides}

So my special day turned out to be a special week in NYC. Halley kept asking me what my favorite thing was, I know for sure what it was. I enjoyed haircuts at the Arrojo Salon, melt-in-your-mouth sandwiches at Bird Bath, pizza at Grimaldi's, the Manhattan Temple is high on the list, shopping in NY, burgers at the Shake Shack, Mary Poppins on Broadway, Times Square, Canal Street, walking & driving around Hoboken, the view from Halley & Jared's place.... none of these were my favorite.

My most favorite thing was spending time with Halley {& her fam}! I wish we lived closer!

What I learned about NYC:
1. there are a lot of people in NY and they are all busy, but friendly and will give directions if you ask,
2. the food is sooooo good,
3. the bargains are there if you are with someone who knows where to find them,
4. if you choose to wear your new shoes to look cute, you will get blisters,
5. the food is sooooooooooooo good {worth mentioning twice}!!!

And the story ends with the beginnings of a plan to visit again.
NYC I miss you already!

I  NY

The End

Oh, Heidi, your story made me cry this morning! There is something so wonderful in watching my grown children have friendships with each other. Its so different from any other stage of life, at least for me it is. My family lives so scattered that when I see you all together, I feel an amazing leap in my heart for the anticipated joy of the eternities. I am so happy that you had such a wonderful time and I am pretty tickled about that husband of yours. He has certainly made me proud lately! I am very excited to see you again, soon! love you, your "other" mom!
