☀valentine reality

This is what really happened on Valentine's Day...

woke up early to puree the beets {I cooked two, but one would have been enough}
I added 1/4 C to the pancake batter and at least that much milk. The batter was very pinkalicious, the pancakes were kind of brown with a hint of pink on the outside, but quite pink on the inside. That's how they cooked up. There was a little beet taste to them, but with syrup you couldn't taste it. Everything tastes good with maple syrup {I might change my blog name to that}. The girls ate them this morning again and liked them... I did learn the following lessons.

1. I still don't really like beets {even though the pancakes were fine}
2. pancakes are for the weekend, Maren was late to school
3. You can make heart shaped muffins by putting a marble between the muffin liner and the pan when you bake them {I will be doing this the day before next year}

Then, while picking up the house and cleaning up my pancake mess
{still in pajamas mind you} the doorbell rang.
This box came for me...
 I was very surprised and excited!
Barett had said he was trying something new and wasn't sure if it was going to work out.
It definitely worked out. These are beautiful! xoxox
So, if you're wondering how lunch and dinner went, we were actually cleaning at my parents home and had yogurt, graham crackers and nutella for lunch. For dinner, Barett and I snuck away for an hour and walked to Guru's to share a wrap and a salad {which were super delicious}. It was so nice to be together with my Valentine. I am grateful for every day! Then we came home and ate the yummy treats that were given to us. Thank you!

P.S.
We will be having the tilapia for dinner tonight
{I'll report on that recipe next time}.
P.P.S.
We didn't make the cookies, which is probably good because
I would have eaten half of them.
P.P.P.S.
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love for Valentine's Day!

I'm going to try making heart muffins. But I might try them sooner than next year. It sounds really interesting. Maybe I'll use beet juice to make the muffins red? do you think that will work? They'll probably be just red on the inside.

Hope you guys are having fun up in Midway!!
