☀hold your dress

Oh yes... I almost forgot that I promised a funny story.

You may be familiar with Barett's new Bishop shoplifting story
well, I think my Bishop's Wife story trumps his...
you be the judge.

A few Sunday's ago, I got ready for church
and rushed the girls out the door {which I've been trying to be better about}
We walked right into the chapel, slightly late,
in this case I would call it "not so fashionably late". With emphasis on the
not so fashionable part. We sat down and were there for a while,
when Hazel just couldn't stand it anymore, she was fussing...
and started rolling on the floor. So I grabbed her and then crouching down
in isle whispered to Maren that she needed to sit nicely while I took Hazel out.

While I was doing this the former Bishop leaned over toward Maren as I was
getting up to leave. I thought he was lending Maren a hand, but it turned out
he was trying to motion something to me.

I was out in the foyer for a little while and then saw Sis. Lewis
she came right over to me with big eyes and a smile, and her cute baby and said...

"hold your dress"

I looked down and with horror on my face, held the the bottom of my dress
while she zipped it up. {we both had one arm, since the other was occupied with a child}
Oh my goodness, I walked to church, sat in church, bent over to talk to Maren and stood in the foyer all with my dress wide open on the side.

Completely unzipped.

I wanted to cry. How did I not zip the side of my dress up, how did I not feel a draft on the way to church? I told her that it would probably be funny in a week.
Well, it is now funny and when I see her I point out that I am fully dressed.
I have no idea how many people witnessed this occasion...
and I do not wish to know.

Yup, you were right! That is funny! I've done something similar, as I'm sure many women have. Mine was walking through a store right after nursing a baby - and I forgot to button up my shirt.

Isn't that the way it goes with mothering? The kids look great...and well, mom is half dressed! It is funny now...and only because I have done my fair share of embarrassing things. This is so therapeutic to read! Thanks for sharing!

I love this Heidi. We all have those days. Just before Christmas I walked 5 blocks to Levi's school, helped him get ready for his Christmas program, set up food, mingled with other mom's only to discover... on the way home... that I had not zipped up my black leather boots, they were hanging wide open the entire morning with my awesome white athletic socks over my pant legs showing. How in the world did I not notice that?
