I enjoyed this talk very much, especially the part about work, our parents taught us how to work... and I think about how I can best teach this to my children.
(Teaching children about work is a lot of work in itself.)
Favorite quote:
"We naturally desire to participate with Him in His work, and in so doing, we ought to recognize that all honest work is the work of God. In the words of Thomas Carlyle: All true work is sacred; in all true work, were it but true hand-labour, there is something of divineness. Labour, wide as the Earth, has its summit in Heaven."
I try to remember this, especially as I work in my home, the work isn't glamorous and at times belittled, but I know it is most important.
(This was the quote I was given to read in young women's on Sunday, after writing the above post, coincidence hmmmm?)
Work. "Energetic, purposeful work leads to vigorous health, praiseworthy achievement, a clear conscience, and refreshing sleep. Work has always been a boon to man. May you have a wholesome respect for labor whether with head, heart, or hand"
The labor of my head, heart & hands
